beta-goon

noun. A second-tier hoodlum, thug, or henchperson.

Real citation: “OK, so I know the show has to dial up the drama, and I couldn't be more cool with that, but technically speaking, what would keep Al from simply killing Hearst? Aside from the logistics of dealing with The Captain, and any other beta-goons, why wouldn't Al cut the cocksucker's throat?”

Made-up citation: "With henchlings and beta-goons, I'd defend the perimeter, send out for sushi, and make the thoroughfare safe for orphans and puppies."
